A U.S. Army Corp of Engineers contract potentially worth about a half-billion-dollars has been awarded to GLOBAL Integrated Security, a Reston, Va.-based company largely run by former CIA and military personnel. GLOBAL will provide a range of security and transportation services in Afghanistan. The Army Corp's Middle East District announced today that it awarded the contract -- which has a first-year value of up to $120 million -- last week. If it exercizes all three option-years, this support-services arrangement alone could cost taxpayers a total of $480 million.
