The deployment of digital “smart grid” technology is seen by the energy industry as the next logical step in modernizing the nation’s electrical networks, and the federal government has pledged to assist industry in meeting that objective—in the nation of Brazil.
The U.S. Trade & Development Agency (USTDA) yesterday (April 20) issued a call to potential contractors capable of performing a “feasibility study” on behalf of Brazilian power companies Cemig and Light, who are seeking U.S. assistance before pursuing a smart-grid pilot project.
According to solicitation (#2011-51003A) that U.S. Trade & Aid Monitor located via a routine search of a federal contracting database, USTDA will pay $710,000 to a consultant selected to perform the study.
